“Dutch architectural studio in cooperation with SeARCH Studio Christian Muller Architects designed and built amazing villa Vals, which combines modern approach of building houses with the primitive.

This house, which was built in Switzerland and so well fits into the natural landscape of the area that is doomed to become local celebrity. Villa completely hidden from human eyes in Inside the hill, which makes her look like a hole of some fantastic character.”

Original Source

I’m excited about the idea and I’m sure it’ll protect the owners of the house from excessive heat of the summer and all; however I’m not so sure that it fits with the environment it’s built in. See the last photo I’ve posted.

Le Chien et Moi

December 24, 2009

“When have you ever been able to actually physically pick up, hold and flick through a website…

A website with weight..

We were recently presented with the task of communicating the look and feel of the beautiful Le Chien Et Moi, “an emporium of a diverse collection of unusual and beautiful things, old and new, with a touch of nostalgia”. Housed in an elegant listed building, complete with antique fixtures and fittings and a resident Basset hound” this would be no easy task and would require more than the average website. The owners both hark from the hallowed halls of Paul Smith.

The tactile nature of the shop lead us to the idea of creating an actual book which would be photographed and transformed from a piece of printwork into interactive design (in this case a Victorian scrapbook to suit the shop) that could be flicked through and browsed to show the contents of the shop and its story. The book features hand written type and professional photography (from the award winning Scene Photography), illustration, a crafted downloadable map, video and a engraved laser cut cover. Everything is considered and complements the style and feel of the shop.

In terms of website functionality the site is easy and enjoyable to navigate (we all have intrinsic knowledge of how to browse a book!). So don’t just read this, go to the actual website (www.lechienetmoi.com) and have a flick through, better yet visit the shop (and Mulberry the Hound!) ask nicely and they may let you handle the real version of the website..the book itself!”

Rabbit (2005-2025)

April 26, 2009

Press Release on Pink Rabbit
Artesina, Piemont, Italy
2005 – 2025

“The things one finds wandering in a landscape: familiar things and utterly unknown, like a flower one has never seen before, or, as Columbus discovered, an inexplicable continent; and then, behind a hill, as if knitted by giant grandmothers, lies this vast rabbit, to make you feel as small as a daisy.

The toilet-paper-pink creature lies on its back: a rabbit-mountain like Gulliver in Lilliput. Happy you feel as you climb up along its ears, almost falling into its cavernous mouth, to the belly-summit and look out over the pink woolen landscape of the rabbitís body, a country dropped from the sky; ears and limbs sneaking into the distance; from its side flowing heart, liver and intestines.

Happily in love you step down the decaying corpse, through the wound, now small like a maggot, over woolen kidney and bowel. Happy you leave like the larva that gets its wings from an innocent carcass at the roadside. Such is the happiness which made this rabbit. i love the rabbit the rabbit loves me.”

After almost 5 years of knitting the rabbit found its final place in the italian alps (close to Cuneo). It waits there to be visited by you. You might even take your time or check back every now and then as the rabbit will wait for you 20 years from now on.

I’ll introduce several Ji Lee projects:

The Bubble Project
50,000 bubble stickers have been printed. They have been continually placed on top of ads on the streets of New York. They are left blank, inviting passersby to fill them in. I photograph and archive the results. This project instantly transforms the intrusive and dull corporate monologues into a public dialogue. Our public spaces are returned back to the public. Since its launch in 2002, the Bubble Project has become a global project. Bubblers all around the globe are bubbling their own towns.

3D Chess Board
The three-dimensional chess board adds an extra dimension of physicality to the game’s battle field.

Nine Circles Numbers
NCN are new numbers based on a visual logic of arithmetic progression. Unlike the Arabic numbers, which are a set of abstract symbols, the use of NCN does not rely on memorizing the shapes of each number, but rather on counting the elements contained in its nine-circles grid. NCN allow us to see that numbers can be mysterious, playful and beautiful.

Diet Scale
Instead of showing the weight, this scale tells the person what to eat according to the weight.

All-In-One Card Stamp
Why buy many cards for different occasions if you can have an “One Card for All Occasions Stamp”? It saves time, money and headache.
