blindfolded people

February 28, 2010

“Normally, I wouldn’t consider the human heart a very attractive thing, but this vase by Eva Milinkovic of Tsunami Glassworks is inspired by its structure and I think it’s beautiful. This is definitely a heart you wouldn’t want to break.”

February 27, 2010

Cocoon by Måns Salomonsen is combined decoration, storage and cultivation for the kitchen window. Grow spices and store fruits in the organic shape and you get both life and color in the kitchen. Cocoon is made of clay which absorb water from the cultivation, when it’s evaporates the storage is cooled down.

Parallel World

February 26, 2010

Not quite like the smurfs living in the forest.

“I love the work of Ji Lee and I was excited to see a new project from him called Parallel World. It involves the construction of miniature versions of rooms (or “parallel worlds”) and placing them on ceilings. Ji Lee noticed that no one ever decorates their ceilings, so he thought it would be a great idea to try and do something with the neglected ceiling space.”

Animal

February 26, 2010

I like the idea of inspiring from children drawings and building a table for children.

“Animal by Quentin de Coster is the result of a reflection on the formal and stereotypical perceptions related to the world of childhood. In an attempt to identify the formal universe in which children aged five years evolve, they were asked to draw tables and dogs. The design of animal was then created from drawings and constraints applicable to shape wood. In this way, the furniture takes on a simplified animal appearance, which beyond fun aspirations, allows it to exist without being used. The outgrowth of the shelf which represents head, gives the child a convenient storage within arm’s reach communicating directly with the work plan.”
